You haven’t met your baby face to face yet, but there’s no doubt you are in love. Most likely you are already thinking of all the ways you want to protect your baby, as well as how you might like to birth in a peaceful and natural way, possibly even in the comfort of your own home! We are happy to support you in all of these endeavors. There is evidence being uncovered regularly - from around the world - suggesting that there is great benefit for the MotherBaby in ensuring access to midwifery care, home birth, and other out-of-hospital birth options.
Island Mamas Midwifery is pleased to serve the families of the Big Island of Hawaii. Island Mamas Midwifery currently offers home birth under the care of Certified Professional Midwives as well as Doula services.
We also have a list of resources for classes such as childbirth education, mama/baby groups, and other various classes offered for parents and families on the Big Island. Prenatal Care
Prenatal visits are scheduled monthly until 28 weeks, every two weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly until your birth. Your midwife will provide education throughout your pregnancy and birth while evaluating maternal and fetal well-being. Learn More ⤍
Home Birth
Safety is always at the forefront and for healthy, low-risk women, giving birth at home with a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) is as safe or safer than being at a hospital. Birth is a normal life event, and women's bodies are made perfectly to give birth. Learn More ⤍
Postpartum/Newborn Care
We will be back to your home to check on you and your baby the day after your give birth, and then again at 3 days postpartum. After that, there are additional visit (either at home or in our office) at 1 week, 2-3 weeks, and finally at 6 weeks. Learn More ⤍
